In this article, you are able to get descriptions of almost every Metallica song that was listed in the higher ranks of the list. As they are able to briefly describe more than 80 songs, one is able to find out more about the songs or understand it’s sound. The article can be useful as it not only gives fans opinions on each release but also has the reader more informed on the causes and backgrounds of the songs.

This article gives an in-depth view of psychology with Metallica’s older songs as well as their newer song, Confusion. The teachers who wrote this cover the thought process of the lyrics written and talk about the overall themes that are given. Having this is useful because it has professors of psychology actually talking about each detail involved in the psychological distress behind each of the songs.

The start of the source talks about how James Hetfield was brought into the band and talks about how he had a very troubled childhood because of the way he was raised. It goes on to explain how he developed his love for guitar and his struggles later on down the road that came with touring with the band. It is a useful article to look at as it explores the vocalist in the band who has created extraordinary lyrics that others listen to and possibly even relate to.

This article gives an overall outlook on what had happened with James Hetfield in relation to his alcoholism. As this was a medical health worker writing about this topic, it was less of an article on opinions and biases and more of an article of evidence, facts, and personal experiences. Having this article is very useful as it is able to give a deeper insight into James Hetfield’s struggles later on in life that contributed to the music he made.

Unlike other articles that are very brief with their information, Jessica Shelton touches on her own opinions and meanings behind each verse apart of the song. We are able to listen to the struggle of the person deemed “The Unforgiven” and how it can be interpreted as James Hetfield’s own early life. This can come to use as the paper should have a clear and concise outlook on one example instead of one grouping of music.

Similar to her other article on “The Unforgiven” this is able to find a detailed background of the songs and an understanding of the music. This is able to support my idea of struggle in Metallica lyrics and explains it through a person in a sanitarium. Just like the previous article, this article gives an insight into one single example which is an advantage of detailed examples.

With this writing, we get an insight into how James Hetfield is considered a lyrical genius. The article compares songs together and gives examples of each one. It is helpful as it groups and explains the meanings instead of separately pointing them out.
